Women’s luncheon Wednesday

The River Hill’s Women’s Club Luncheon will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at River Hills Country Club.

Interest group sign-up and discussion will be the program. To make a reservation, email rhwcmembership@gmail.com. Lunch will be served at noon.

MOMS Club open house Wednesday

MOMS Club, serving ZIP codes 28278, 28217 and 28273, will hold an open house from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 18, at The Berewick Manor House, 6625 Berewick Commons Parkway.

Group activities include speakers, playgroups and mom’s night out. The club also performs service projects for children.

Auto Show and Fall Fest Saturday

The Clover Jaycees and the town of Clover will host the annual auto show and fall festival on Saturday, Sept. 21, on Main Street in downtown.

Vendor applications are being accepted for crafts, children’s activities, food and more. For vendor applications and auto show registration forms, visit thecloverjaycees.com.

Registration for the auto show begins at 8 a.m. Entry fee is $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. The festival will include food and craft vendors, children’s activities and music.

A street dance featuring music by the band Summerdaze will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.

Learn about Animal Adoption League Sept. 24

Marge Barnes with Animal Adoption League will speak Sept. 24 at the Lake Wylie Rotary Club’s noon lunch meeting at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane.

S.C. treasurer to speak Sept. 27 in Lake Wylie

South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis will be the featured speaker at the Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women’s Club’s Sept. 27 meeting at River Hills Country Club.

Loftis will present an overview of his responsibilities and accomplishments since taking office Jan. 12, 2011.

Special guest Phil Land, regional outreach director for Sen. Lindsay Graham, also will talk.

The program will close with a question-and-answer session and musical entertainment provided by Mr. Land, a bluegrass musician.

A native of Lexington County and graduate of the University of South Carolina, Loftis serves as investor of the Local Government Investment Pool and the Future Scholar 529 Fund. He is the vice chairman of the State Budget and Control Board, which has oversight of the state retirement system, procurement, insurance programs, and budget, auditor’s, human resources’ and technology offices.

Additionally, he is a small-business owner, and the founder and benefactor of The Saluda Charitable Foundation, a faith-based organization providing nutritional and housing services to orphans and the elderly.

Land has served for Graham in Rock Hill since 2011. He has served as a legal assistant, assistant dean of students at Hampden-Sydney, and as a law clerk in the South Carolina Senate.

Guests, members and potential new members – both women and men – are invited. An 11:30 a.m. social will be followed by lunch at noon and speaker at 12:30 p.m.

Lions seek auction items for benefit dinner

The River Hills Lions Club seeks donations for its annual Benefit Dinner with live and silent auctions to be held Oct. 5 at River Hills Country Club. Proceeds go to River Hills/Lake Wylie EMS.

Examples of items needed include gift certificates, professional and college sports tickets, artwork, restaurant dinner packages, weekend getaways, automobiles, jewelry, theater tickets and Jet Skis.
