River Hills Community Church begins Table Talk Sept. 18

Community invited to Table Talk Wednesday

Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 18, River Hills Community Church will start Table Talk, a new weekly experience for the whole family.

The six-week program includes gathering for dinner, fellowship, study and conversation about key stories of the Bible. The stories are basic for new Christians, yet have unexpected flair to engage the seasoned Bible reader. Stories include Creation, The Fall, The Flood, Father Abraham, Ten Words, and The Great Commandment.

Sessions include a meal, the telling of the story, Table Talk questions and discussion, and activities for all ages.

Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. in the gym of the Church Life Center with Table Talk to follow. To register, call 803-831-1615.

Fall Bazaar Saturday in Steele Creek

Christ the King Church is hosting a Fall Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

Knights host sock hop Sept. 27

The third annual Oldies Sock Hop will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 27 at River Hills Marina pavilion, presented by All Saints Knights of Columbus.

All Saints to launch building campaign

All Saints Catholic Church, 530 S.C. 274, will launch its “All Saints Alive” campaign Sept. 29 to raise money to build a Parish Life Center.

A minimum goal of $1.2 million and challenge goal of $1.8 million have been set.

The kick-off celebration culminates during Commitment Weekend, Nov. 16-17.

‘Light the Flame’ presented Sept. 29

Unity of Charlotte, 401 E. Arrowood Road, presents “Light the Flame: A vision for a new humanity,” a message about daily challenges, by award-winning author Andrew Harvey at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 29.

Following the service, Harvey will continue his message in a class from 1 to 3 p.m.

Cancer survivors celebration Oct. 6

Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Road, will hold a celebration for cancer survivors during the 11 a.m. Oct. 6 worship service.

The celebration will feature prayers, music and speakers from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Cancer Society.

Following the service, a reception will be held in the Bledsoe Family Life Center where attendees can tie a knot in a prayer quilt for those with cancer or in memory of those lost to this disease.

Church hosts free exercise classes

Free exercises classes are offered Mondays at Christ the King Church, 13501 S. Tryon St. Class is taught by Kathryn Webner, registered nurse, health fitness specialist and a personal trainer.

The Beginner Strength & Conditioning Class is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. targeting balance, endurance and improved muscular strength.

This class is appropriate for seniors, the non-exerciser, or someone recovering from an injury.

The Group Circuit Class from 6 to 7 p.m. is designed to improve total body strength and cardiovascular fitness.

This class is offered for all fitness levels, 12 years and older. Bring a mat, towel and water.

Singles groups meets Tuesdays

New River Community Church is holding two singles groups, both meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesdays.

• FUSION is for anyone out of high school to age 24. The group meets at a member’s home in York. Singles can build friendships through studying God’s Word together, serving in the community, having fun, and discussing challenges of life.

• Singles Gatherings is for adults ages 25 and older. The group meets at the church, 133 Carroll Cove Road. Connection and Bible study are the primary focuses. Child care is provided for children 10 and younger.

Scherer Presbyterian Church, 4800 Charlotte Hwy., hosts REST4Moms from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of the month.

Mothers begin the morning with coffee, tea and goodies, followed by topics of interest, crafts, conversation and discussion. Children are treated to crafts, snacks and playtime. Annual cost is $10.
