CLOVER — Clover Area Assistance Center recently held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic at the River Hills Marina pavilion in Lake Wylie.
With only three part-time employees, there are more than 80 volunteers helping at CAAC. Lisa Hall, CAAC board president, calls the volunteers “the heart and soul of the organization.” Hall said the pantry volunteers are critical to the agency’s services, as are the medical and dental clinics’ volunteers, which would not exist without the commitment of local professionals.
“Our appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Bechtel, Dr. Blackmon, and their staff, is immeasurable,” Hall said.
CAAC is planning to expand its hours of operation, a change that can only happen with more volunteers.
“We are always looking for volunteers” said Karen van Vierssen, CAAC executive director. “Because of the changes we are making in our service delivery and education classes, we have volunteer positions available that never existed before.”
