— Fifteen stainless steel dog bowls and a freezer worth more than $700 were stolen from a Clover man’s property within the last month, he told police on Monday.

The man, 48, said he noticed the bowls, worth $150 total, and the five-foot freezer missing from his property on S.C. 55, according to a York County sheriff’s report.

He told police that he waited to report the theft because he hoped the items would be returned after he questioned an employee about them, the report states.

The employee denied taking the items, and claimed that he did not know who took them, the report states.

He did tell police that when he left work at about 4 p.m. Sept. 27, the freezer and dog bowls were there, the report states. He said a stranger driving a pickup came on the property and claimed that the property owner asked him to pick up the freezer.
