Kings of Carolinas racing near Wylie

King of the Carolinas, presented by Carolinas First Defense, will run Oct. 24-27 at Carolina Speedway, 6355 Union Road.

Gates open at 5 p.m. for practice from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

Racing begins at 5 p.m. Friday, and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Grandstands costs Friday $12, Saturday $18, Sunday $22; two-day pass Friday-Saturday $27, and $38 for Saturday and Sunday. Three-day pass $45.

RUNNING

Mummy Shuffle 5K Saturday in Clover

Registration is underway for the second annual Mummy Shuffle 5K Fun Run-Walk Saturday, Oct. 26.

The race will start at 8:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church parking lot, 117 S. Main St.

The event will benefit the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, an organization that provides free books to children from birth to age 5.

Registration fees cost $10 in advance. Participants will receive a race T-shirt. Day of race registration costs $15 and will begin at 8 a.m.

There will be a cash prize for first-place male and female winners of the race. There also will be prizes for best costumes.

Entry forms are available at the Clover YMCA, 107 S. Main St., and on the Clover Rotary Club’s Facebook page.

Zombie Crawl 5K Saturday

The Old Town Zombie Crawl 5K/Fun Run and Zombie Survival Party will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, on Main Street.

The fun run begins at 3 p.m., with the 5K at 3:30 p.m.

Following the runs will be children’s activities, award ceremony and survivor party ending at 10 p.m.

Proceeds go to The Heart2Heart Foundation’s free community educational programs and materials, and provide heart health risk assessment screenings for at-risk women.

CLT Runway 5K Saturday

Charlotte Douglas International Airport will host its seventh annual Runway 5K Run at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at CLT.

Runners and walkers may register online at sportoften.com. The cost is $30 until Friday, Oct. 25, and $35 on the day of the race.

A variety of activities will be on hand for children, including a bounce house, animated movie characters and face painting, as well as a C-130 and DC-7.

Money goes toward LifeSpan’s Community Activity and Employment Transition Program, a nonprofit organization, assists children and adults with developmental disabilities by providing education, employment and enrichment opportunities.

U13 and U14 leagues forming

Rock Hill Volleyball Club in partnership with Winthrop University Volleyball Program are offering competitive play for youth ages 13 and younger and ages 14 and older. Deadline to register is Friday, Oct. 26, for U13 and Nov. 1 for U14.

Club launches year-round league

Tega Cay Golf Club is launching a year-round IMPACT Junior Golf League focusing on family golf, open to junior golfers as young as age 5, and developmental golf for junior golfers elementary through senior high school.

The first session kicks off this fall, running through mid-November. Registration is under way.

Weekly league play runs Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons featuring varying formats and skill challenges.

Belmont Parks & Recreation Department is holding registration for youth basketball for ages 3-15 beginning at noon Monday, Oct. 28, through Nov. 9.

The registration fee costs $50 in the city limits of Belmont, $75 out of city. Signups will be online at cityofbelmont.org or at the recreation department at 37 E. Woodrow Ave. In-person registration ends at 5 p.m. Nov. 8.

USA Football camp coming to Rock Hill

The Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Rock Hill schools will welcome the USA Football Regional Development Camp to South Pointe High School on April 12-13.

The USA Football Regional Development Camp is for athletes in grades 7-11 and focuses on development on and off the field. Participating athletes will have the opportunity to train with current NFL and NCAA coaches, listen and learn from former NFL players and receive an evaluation from an NFL or college scout.

All athletes will be evaluated for the U.S. National Team program. Athletes selected to participate in the USA National Team program will represent Team USA in the international competition.

USA Football officials expect to have nearly 300 attend the camp. Register online at usafootball.com. Spectators are welcome to attend the event for free.

Giants fans meet in Fort Mill
