Two Hickory men have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a March 2012 drive-by shooting that left a 17-year-old wounded.
Xzavier Latrel Smith, 21, and Anthony Maurice Tucker, 28, were convicted this week in Superior Court in Newton, the Catawba County District Attorney’s Office said.
Smith, convicted on charges of accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder and accessory after the fact to assault with a deadly weapon, was sentenced to between 6 1/2 years and nine years, nine months in prison.
Tucker, convicted of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, was sentenced to between six years eight months and nine years in prison.
Police say the incident took place about 1 p.m. March 31, 2012, on N.C. 127 South in Hickory. A 17-year-old driving a car said he was shot in the side.
Police said Tucker was the shooter and that Smith was driving the car from which the shot was fired.
