Police have arrested a man in the thefts of copper from 27 Monroe businesses.
Police charged Kerry Romaine Funderburk, 21, of Monroe, with 27 counts of misdemeanor larceny and 27 counts of injury to property to obtain nonferrous metals.
Wednesday’s arrest followed a week-long series of business break-ins. Police said copper was removed from commercial air conditioning units, causing hundreds to thousands of dollars in damage.
Funderburk was in the Union County Jail on Thursday under a $10,000 bond. His court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 8.
An additional warrant for larceny was served on Funderburk for an unrelated offense in which he was given a $2,500 bond.
