Tournament fun Sunday at Lake Wylie
LAKE WYLIE YMCA Camp Thunderbird invites the community to a Disc Golf Tournament from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.
There will be competitive and recreational play, as well as an opportunity to try to the 40-foot zipline.
Registration begins at 1 p.m. with players meeting at 1:45 p.m. and play starting at 2 p.m. The zipline is open from 1 to 5 p.m.
Cost is $15 in advance, or $10 for children younger than age 12. Same day registration costs $20 per person, or $15 for children.

Area golfers take on Gaston Country Club
WEST END, N.C. Lake Wylie area golfers take swing at Nov. 4 Carolinas Golf Association’s Senior Four-Ball Tournament at Gaston Country Club, Gastonia.
In Flight B at 6,243 yards, Jim Schilling of Lake Wylie and Doug Cullen of Charlotte finished 41-35 - 76.
In Super Senior Flight A at 5,732 yards, Nick C Locke of Lake Wylie and Skip McPhail of Gastonia finished 38-39- 77.
In Super Senior Flight B, Mike Shively and Harry Goff, both of Lake Wylie, ended at 39-37 - 76.
Tournament format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play, both gross and net. 90 percent of a player's course handicap is used to determine net scores. Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by the tournament date, is a member of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association, and has a current USGA handicap index at a CGA member club. The field was divided into four flights based on age and total team course handicap: Tournament Flights A and B, and Super Senior Flights A & B.

USA Football camp coming to Rock Hill
ROCK HILL The Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Rock Hill schools will welcome the USA Football Regional Development Camp to South Pointe High School on April 12-13.
The USA Football Regional Development Camp is for athletes in grades 7-11 and focuses on development on and off the field. Participating athletes will have the opportunity to train with current NFL and NCAA coaches, listen and learn from former NFL players and receive an evaluation from an NFL or college scout.
All athletes will be evaluated for the U.S. National Team program. Athletes selected to participate in the USA National Team program will represent Team USA in the international competition.
USA Football officials expect to have nearly 300 attend the camp. Register online at usafootball.com. Spectators are welcome to attend the event for free.

Giants fans meet in Fort Mill

Championship coming to Rock Hill
ROCK HILL The Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department will host the International Quidditch Southern US Regional Championship Feb. 15-16 at Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex.
Rock Hill will host about 25 colleges throughout the south for this championship, including Rock Hill’s Winthrop University.
Nearly 3,000 people are expected to come to the area for this International Quidditch Association event.
