Fire heavily damaged a southeast Charlotte home and injured one firefighter late Sunday night.

The blaze was reported about 10:15 p.m. at a two-story home in the 800 block of Mattingwood Drive. That is at the intersection of Rittenhouse Circle, on the north side of the Rittenhouse loop.

Charlotte fire Capt. Rob Brisley said firefighters found flames and smoke coming from the house when they arrived. The firefighter’s injuries were minor.

A neighbor said the residents were not home when the fire broke out. A Charlotte firefighting crew remained at the scene throughout the night to deal with hot spots.
