New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m. Sunday, FOX

Panthers’ Ron Rivera sees potential pluses in a rainy Sunday

jperson@charlotteobserver.comDecember 20, 2013

The forecast for Sunday’s 1 p.m. kickoff between the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints is for temperatures in the low 70s, with a 50 percent chance of rain and an increasing chance of showers throughout the afternoon.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera was asked how the conditions would affect the game.

“Hopefully, it would affect (the Saints) adversely, which would be positive for us,” Rivera said. “We’re going to do what we do, and they’re going to do what they do. If it becomes a real sloppy situation, it could change things.”

The Saints have lost their past two road games, and are 3-4 away from the Superdome this season.
