No injuries were reported Tuesday morning in a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex off Monroe Road in southeast Charlotte.

The first alarm was sounded about 7:40 a.m. at the Hanover Landing Apartments, in the 5800 block of Monroe Road between Idlewild and Sharon Amity roads.

Firefighters found smoke coming from a unit of the two-story apartments when they arrived, and a second alarm was sounded a short time later. Charlotte fire Capt. Mark Basnight said it took a crew of 45 firefighters less than 15 minutes to subdue the blaze.

Basnight said the fire was contained to a single unit in a building near the rear of the complex. The residents of that unit were displaced. Dozens of other residents were forced from their apartment units for a short time while firefighters cleared smoke from the area.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the blaze.
