— Saturday’s visit to Lake Wylie will bring bragging rights and cash for a few catfish teams. It also could lead to a bigger payday ahead.

Catawba Catfish Club makes its fifth tournament stop of the season on Saturday, and second on Lake Wylie. The tournament runs 7 a.m.-3 p.m. from Buster Boyd Access Area. Sign-in begins two hours prior. Weigh-in begins at 3:30 p.m.

“All Catawba Catfish Club tournaments are open to the public and all are invited to come out and join us,” said series organizer Marty Green.

The club is now an affiliate of the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail. The top three finishers from each Catawba Catfish event through the end of September qualify to fish the $25,000 Cabela’s King Kat Eastern Classic Oct. 3-4 on Lake Wateree. Teams would also have to fish one of two Cabela’s qualifers – one is Feb. 21-22 in Santee Cooper, the other April 25-26 in Georgetown – to secure their spot.
