York County Councilman Bruce Henderson announced Monday afternoon that he is seeking reelection for a third term representing the Lake Wylie and Clover area.
Henderson, who has served District 2 since 2011, confirmed that he plans to run for his seat in November’s race and is excited to restart his campaign, which will employ the same grassroots approach he’s used the last two terms.
“I feel like I got the zeal and drive to do it once more,” said Henderson, who described himself as a “business-friendly” politician who is for “the common man and common woman.”
District 2 is comprised of some of the county’s more rural municipalities in the western side as well as the unincorporated area of Lake Wylie, which has seen an a rapid increase in residential development.
According to the state Ethics Commission, Henderson still has $1,078 on hand from his last run in 2012, which can be used for his 2014 campaign.
The Clover republican was challenged in the 2012 GOP primary by John Rinehart of Rinehart Realty, based in Rock Hill.
