— A Lake Wylie Walmart employee was arrested last week after authorities say he stole eight Playstation 4 controllers from the racks and threw away all the packaging inside a store restroom trash can.

Deputies on Thursday were dispatched to the Walmart on S.C. 274 after an asset protection manager reported that he uncovered surveillance video of an employee stealing from the store, according to a York County Sheriff's report.

The employee, identified as Robert Adam Hager, 19, of Gastonia, took the video game controls off the rack and then walked towards the bathroom, the report states. Hager allegedly removed the controllers from their packaging, stuffing it at the bottom of a trash can.

The controllers were worth $440, the report states.

Deputies spoke with Hager, who turned himself in to police when he learned deputies planned to issue a warrant for his arrest. He was charged with breach of trust. He was released from jail Friday on a $470 bond.
