Local schools closed, some delayed on Thursday; other closings

The following are closings and cancellations in York, Chester and Lancaster counties due to inclement weather:


• Rock Hill School District, Chester County School District, Lancaster County Schools and York Preparatory Academy will be closed for students and staff on Thursday due to ongoing icy conditions.

• York School District will be closed on Thursday for students, but employees will report at a later time.

• Clover School District will be operating on a two-hour delay on Thursday. Elementary schools will open at 9:20 a.m. and staff will report at 9:00 a.m. Middle and high schools will open at 10:15 a.m. and staff will report at 10:00 a.m.

• Fort Mill Schools will be on a three-hour delay for Thursday. Pre-k programs are cancelled, but all after-school activities remain on schedule.

• St. Anne Catholic School and extended care will be closed Thursday. All after-school activities are canceled.

• York Technical College will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday for staff and students.

• Winthrop University will open regularly on Thursday.

• Only the Fort Mill Boys & Girls Club of York County will be open on Thursday. All other clubs located in Rock Hill will be closed.


• Lancaster County Offices will open at noon on Thursday. Recycling Centers will reopen on Friday at 9:00 a.m.

• Offices of the Town of Fort Mill will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and resume regular hours on Thursday.

• City of Rock Hill government offices will remain open but Municipal Court will follow the same schedule as Rock Hill schools, if delays or cancellations are announced. Trash pickup schedules for Thursday will be normal, however city trucks may arrive later than usual.

• Rock Hill parks and recreation facilities are closed until further notice.
