McHale’s last hurrah in Fort Mill is Super Bowl Sunday

Special to the Fort Mill TimesJanuary 30, 2014

— On Sunday, customers of McHales’s Irish Pub looked fondly upon the years they enjoyed their favorite dishes and drinks as the restaurant headed into its final week of business here.

The pub’s owners, Brendan and Tracy Kuhlkin, announced last week they were closing the pub on Gold Hill Road near Tega Cay after nearly 20 years in business. They will continue to operate the McHale’s on Main in Rock Hill. Brendan Kuhlkin said the property has been sold to a Charlotte developer who plans to build homes there.

McHales’s is scheduled to close after Feb. 2.

For 14 years, McHale’s was a place to spend time with family for Tega Cay resident Diane DeQuinzio. DeQuinzio has been coming to the Fort Mill location three times a week for 14 years and plays darts every Wednesday.

“We’re sorry to see McHale’s go,” she said.

McHale’s final day of business in Fort Mill is Super Bowl Sunday and Kuhlkin said there would be specials all day. Customers can book a table for four for $50, which includes any appetizer and dessert and a bucket of beer. The cost of reserving the table will be put toward the tab.
