— A Rowan County man was arrested Thursday and charged with selling crack cocaine from his residence, authorities say.

The sheriff’s office said a three-week investigation culminated with the arrest of Sharod Raheem Mathis, 19. He was taken into custody after sheriff’s deputies and Spencer police searched his apartment in the 400 block of North Yadkin Avenue.

Deputies said they found 7 grams of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a 9 mm handgun. Investigators said the serial number of the gun had been rubbed off.

Mathis was charged with possession with intent to sell cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep and sell a controlled substance, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was jailed under $25,000 bond and has a first court date scheduled for Monday, deputies said.
