LAKE WYLIE Tickets are on sale for Boy Scout Troop 333 Scout Sunday BBQ Fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at River Hills Community Church.
Barbecue ribs and chicken by the pound, and plates (meat, buns, coleslaw and chips) will be sold. Whole pork butts are sold in pre-orders only.
Money raised goes to High Adventure trips and camping supplies.

GOP group invites new members to Feb. 28 meeting
LAKE WYLIE The Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women’s Club welcomes newcomers, visitors and members to its Feb. 28 membership luncheon at River Hills Country Club.
Learn about the club’s 2014 goals and planned activities. Membership is open to women and men. At the luncheon, a gift will be awarded to a current club member who signs-up the most new members.
Featured speaker is Kim Wellman, newly-elected president of the S.C. Federation of Republican Women. Past president and member of the West Metro Republican Women in Lexington, Wellman is the assistant vice president of Corporate Marketing Communications for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. She has served in leadership positions for organizations including the Palmetto Place Children’s Emergency Shelter, Junior Woman’s Club of Columbia and the United Way of the Midlands. She currently serves on the development committee for The Children’s Trust of South Carolina.

The Clover/Lake Wylie Republican Women honored South Carolina’s local military during the Jan. 24 meeting.
Marianne Falls presented a $100 check to Rose Lemon-Berry, resource contractor for the Rock Hill National Guard, to be used for postage in shipping donated goods to deployed troops. Lemon-Berrry said more than $16,000 was spent last year for shipping.
Barbara Hulba gave a check for $100 to Wounded Warrior Program, who presented at the meeting.

Sweet Repeat seeks members, store volunteers
LAKE WYLIE Sweet Repeat Charitable Foundation needs volunteers and new members at its thrift shop in Lake Wylie.
Volunteers are asked to volunteer two to six hours a month. Proceeds from the thrift shop go to local charities. Membership applications are available at the store.

LAKE WYLIE Volunteer members the River Hills Lions Club are seeking advertising from local businesses for the community’s 2014 telephone directory.
Ads reach 1,100 River Hills residents. Proceeds help local charities, including River Hills/Lake Wylie EMS. In 2013, more than $50,000 in yellow page sales were donated. Organizations interested in placing an ad should email email@example.com.
