Register for LWAA Saturday

Registration for Lake Wylie Athletic Association’s spring baseball season is underway. Baseball is available for players ages 4-13. Visit eteamz.com/lwaa for information or to register.

The Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce will accept registration forms and payments. Make checks out to LWAA.

LWAA’s evaluation for players league age 8 and older is 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Bethel Elementary. In person registrations also will be accepted at this time.

Soccer

Register for LWAA Saturday at River Gate

Lake Wylie Athletic Association is accepting registrations for the spring soccer season.

All players must register online at eteamz.com/LWAASoccer/, then follow the link to the new registration site: sports.bluesombrero.com/lwaa.

In-person registration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 8, at Omega Sports in River Gate shopping center.

Practices begin in mid-February and games begin in early-March. The season ends before the last day of the school year, June 4.

Adult league forming

Belmont Parks & Recreation Department is holding registration for adult soccer Feb. 1-21.

The registration fee is $275 per team in the city limits of Belmont, $325 per team out of city or $35 per individual in the city limits of Belmont, $40 out of city.

Belmont Parks & Recreation Department is holding registration for adult basketball Feb. 1-21.

The registration fee is $475 per team in the city limits of Belmont, $525 per team out of city or $50 per individual in the city limits of Belmont, $55 out of city.

Youth registration ends Saturday

Belmont Parks & Recreation Department is holding registration through Saturday, Feb. 8, for youth soccer for ages 3-15, youth baseball for ages 6-14, youth girls softball for ages 6-14, and youth girls volleyball for ages 9-15.

The registration fee is $50 in the city limits of Belmont, $75 out of city. Register online at cityofbelmont.org or at 37 E. Woodrow Ave. in Belmont.

In-person registration ends at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7.

Clover Rec

Youth league sign-ups continue

Registration is through Feb. 21 for all divisions of Clover Recreation baseball, softball and soccer.

Registrations can be completed at the Clover Community Center, 120 Bethel St., during business hours Monday-Friday. Registration hours will be extended on Mondays until 8 p.m. Online registration is cloversc.org.

Quidditch

Championship coming; costume contest added

The Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department will host the International Quidditch Southern U.S. Regional Championship Feb. 15-16 at Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex.

Rock Hill will host about 25 colleges throughout the South for this championship, including Rock Hill’s Winthrop University.

Nearly 3,000 people are expected to come to the area for this International Quidditch Association event.

Participants of the costume contest can dress as any one of their favorite Harry Potter characters. Registration for the contest will be on-site and is open to youth and adults of all ages. There will be two age brackets, one for youth 12 and younger and one for those ages 13 and older. Each age bracket will have two winners who will receive two tickets each to Carowinds.

Quidditch was founded in 2005 at Middlebury College by student Xander Manshel. For more information, call 803-329-5200.

Running

5K March 1 in Lake Wylie

“Must Dash” 5K and 2.5K will be held at 9 a.m. March 1 starting at Lake Wylie Crossfit gym and running through The Landing neighborhood to benefit the Clover High School AFJROTC.

There will be awards for males and females in each 10-year category.

This will be a child- and dog-friendly event starts at 9 a.m. at the Lake Wylie Cross Fit, next to the former Bi-Lo grocery store.

The 5K fee is $20. The 2.5K fee is $15. Registration is open until Feb. 28. Register online at active.com.
