FORT MILL — Eleven people were cited and charged on Saturday after deputies investigating complaints about a possible underage drinking party found several teenagers and young adults with vodka, marijuana and one young suspect with a handgun that he tried hiding in a Fort Mill motel, authorities said.
Deputies were sent to the Motel 6 on Foothills Way near Carowinds at about 9 p.m. after receiving several complaints about noise and a possible drinking party, according to a York County Sheriff’s report. The hotel’s general manager told deputies that a teenage girl had thrown up in the elevator before giving police the room numbers the teens allegedly causing the ruckus were staying in.
A deputy checking two of the rooms reported that he could smell marijuana coming from both areas, the report states. When he knocked on a door, he found three teenage girls, one of them 14 and two of them 15, and two teenage boys, one 15 and 16. One of the boys flushed his cigarette in the toilet. One of the girls’ mother, who rented the room, arrived and told police she had gone to get something to eat. She was unaware there was marijuana and beer in the room, the report states. Deputies searched the teens, but did not find any drugs or liquor on the girls. They were let go. The boys both had marijuana and “confessed” to bringing and drinking the beer. They were cited and issued juvenile summons to court before they were released to their parents, the report states.
Deputies found several teenagers, along with bottles of vodka and a marijuana cigar no one would claim, in another room. One of the teens, identified as Kyle Michael Lombardo, 18, of Fort Mill, placed a handgun on the floor beside the bed, the report states. Lombardo admitted to police that the gun belonged to him. He was charged with unlawfully carrying a pistol, possession of marijuana and minor in possession of liquor. Deputies charged Brian Ciccone, 21, who rented the room, with five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Four other teens: Brandon Steven Atkocius, 19, of Cornelius, N.C.; De’Jon Lamont Traywick, 20, of Indian Land; Colten Oneill Shackleford, 18, of Clover, and April Ciccone, 19, of Fort Mill were also charged with possession of marijuana and minor in possession of liquor.
In the fourth room, deputies spoke with Taylor Rae Teeter, 21, of Cornelius, N.C., with two teens and a bottle of vodka. Teeter was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Brittany Nicole Duggins, 18, of Fort Mill, and Kristopher Mickell Patterson, 17, of Fort Mill, were charged with minor in possession of liquor. Duggins was charged with possession of marijuana after she dropped marijuana out of a window.
