Journey hosts presentation on Common Core

The Journey Church at Lake Wylie, 5415 Hwy. 557, will host a presentation on Common Core State Standards at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the church life center.

Susan Certo and Mary Beth Crumly, parents of students in Fort Mill School District, will present concerns about Common Core in math and English language arts that have been implemented in South Carolina schools.

Church will meet at Lake Pointe Academy

The Bridge Community Church, which meets at 10:30 a.m. Sundays at Clover High School, will be moving to Lake Pointe Academy Christian School, 3168 Hands Mill Hwy.

Pastor is Kevin Witt. Services in the new location will begin at 10 a.m. March 16 with coffee and doughnuts, and worship beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The Bridge Community Church has a Bible-based, informal and contemporary style of worship with Southern Baptist roots.

Dine for HOPE

The Waffle House-Lake Wylie and Knights of Columbus of All Saints Council No. 14475 are raising money for Operation HOPE (Helping Other People Everyday), a statewide campaign to help people with intellectual disabilities.

On the first Monday of each month, Waffle House will donate 20 percent of its proceeds to Operation HOPE. For more information, call 803-746-5464.

Community Cafe serves lunch Tuesdays

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly.

The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Scherer hosts moms

Scherer Presbyterian Church, 4800 Charlotte Hwy., hosts REST4Moms from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of the month.

Mothers begin the morning with coffee, tea and goodies, followed by topics of interest, crafts, conversation and discussion. Children are treated to crafts, snacks and playtime. Annual cost is $10.
