Man fatally shot near downtown Lancaster

Observer Staff ReportsFebruary 19, 2014

— Police are working to determine who shot and killed a man outside a home near Lancaster’s downtown district early Wednesday morning.

Lancaster police have not released the name of the victim but said it was a man in his early 20s. The shooting was reported on West Meeting Street, not far from Springs Memorial Hospital.

Police who already were working in the area on another case heard the gunfire about 3 a.m. and responded quickly. They said there were several witnesses who were interviewed by officers.

But police have not announced any arrests and have not named a suspect in the case.
