Avoid Interstate 77 Cornelius Exit 28 Sunday night through Wednesday

jmarusak@charlotteobserver.comFebruary 28, 2014

One lane of eastbound West Catawba Avenue in Cornelius near Interstate 77 and on the I-77 bridge will be closed Sunday night through Wednesday as part of Exit 28’s conversion to a safer diverging diamond interchange.

Motorists should use alternate routes, as congestion will be heavy and major delays are expected, town officials said Friday. Consider using Westmoreland Road, Sam Furr Road and Huntersville Exit 25 as alternates.

The $6.2 million project will take about 1 1/2 years to complete.
