Palisades Episcopal School varsity basketball team wins championship

March 8, 2014

— Palisades Episcopal School’s varsity basketball team beat the defending champions St. Michael’s Catholic School to win the Charlotte Gaston Athletic Association Tournament Championship on Feb. 27.

The Gryphons were led by Max Gilbert, who had a season high 25 points in the 65-40 victory. This win capped off season with 18 conference victories and only one loss.

The team was led by a core of eighth-graders: Max Gilbert, Ryan Hines, Parker Manley and Jack Zeller. “This group has taken the Gryphon basketball program, only in its third year, and created a culture of team play, sportsmanship and winning,” said Athletic Director and coach Rusty Menchaca.

“This will be a team to be remembered.” Palisades Episcopal school is an independent day school offering grades JK-8. For more information, visit pescharlotte.org.
