BFL tournament Saturday on Wylie

The 2014 Walmart BFL season continues with four tournaments on Saturday, April 5.

The Cowboy division will take on Toledo Bend, the Mountain division heads back to Dale Hollow Lake, the North Carolina division is set to fish Lake Wylie and the Savannah River division will compete on Lake Russell. Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete in each event for top awards $8,000 and $3,000 respectively.

Anglers launch from Buster Boyd Access Area, 3990 Charlotte Hwy. Most of the fish are expected to be in a pre-spawn pattern and jigs and crankbaits will be in heavy rotation. Secondary points, rip rap banks and pockets will receive a lot of attention from tournament anglers looking for the fat pre-spawn largemouth bass. The winning weight is expected to be around 17 pounds.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 40 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and are competing to finish in the top six, which qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. The 2014 BFL All-American is being held June 5-7 on Wilson Lake in Florence, Ala. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the Rayovac FLW Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
