Police say no charges have been filed in the death of a pedestrian Tuesday night on Wilkinson Boulevard in west Charlotte.

Ronald Renel Vance, 55, died when he was struck by two vehicles while trying to cross the road about 9:45 p.m., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police investigators.

Police said Vance was trying to cross Wilkinson from the Walmart store toward his residence.

Vance was struck initially by a 2012 Hyundai Sonata and knocked to the street. He was then hit by a 1990 Mercedes Benz. Police said both drivers remained at the scene. Speed did not appear to be a factor, and alcohol was not a factor with either driver, police said.

Police did not say whether Vance was trying to cross in a crosswalk.

There were no injuries among the motorists – a 33-year-old woman and her 11-year-old female passenger in the Hyundai, and a 61-year-old man in the Mercedes Benz.

The accident remains under investigation, and police ask that anyone with information contact detectives at 704-432-2169.
