On April 1, Oakridge Middle School boys soccer team lost against an undefeated Gold Hill team, 1-0. The game went back and forth with Oakridge just missing the goal several times. With some injuries and people not able to play, Camden Largen and Jared Matley stepped up to be versatile playing in the center for the team.


The Oakridge team has run off four straight wins after beating a solid Saluda Trail team, 12-2, on April 3. The Lady Golden Eagles are now 6-1 on the season. Tiffany Dominique pitched impressively, striking out five hitters. Sydney Beatham hit for the cycle last night collecting a homerun, triple, double, and a single. Dominique also hit a homerun, and tripled. Also standing out offensively for OMS were: Cecily Williams – 1 for 1, doubled, 2 runs, and Lilly Kale - 1 for 2, singled, 2 steals.

The team continued its hot streak April 1 overwhelming Dutchman Creek, 25-3, in 3 1/2 innings. Tiffany Dominique pitched the Lady Golden Eagles to victory, striking out six Lady Gator hitters. Leading the way on offense for OMS were: Dominique – 2 for 3, homerun and triple, 3 runs, Cecily Williams – 2 for 3, 2 singles, 3 runs, Sarah Kamps – 2 for 2, 2 singles, 4 runs, and Emily Bourdueax - 2 for 2, 2 singles, 4 runs.

The team dominated Castle Heights 21-1 on March 27. Tiffany Dominique pitched the Lady Golden Eagles to victory, striking out 7 hitters in the contest. Every player contributed to the win. Leading the way for OMS offensively were: Vivian Karamitros – 1 RBI, Dominique - 4 for 4, 2 doubles and 2 triples, Cecily Williams – 2 for 3, double and single and Sydney Beatham – triple, 2 steals, and 3 runs scored.


The Golden Eagles’ baseball team lost April 1 to Springfield, 6-0. On the mound for the Golden Eagles, Garrett Bufford had 4 strikeouts in three innings, Luke Darling 2 strikeouts in three innings, and Will Griffith 1 strikeout in one inning. Offensively, the Golden Eagles mustered eight hits but they could not capitalize on those opportunities. Contributing offensively for OMS: Bufford, Zach Tully, Parker Johnson and Devyn Byrd each had 1 hit, while Brandon Johnson and Kolby Crepeau each had 2 hits. Leading the team defensively, Bryan Van Scoyoc had 5 put outs and 1 double play.

On March 26, the OMS Golden Eagles and Gold Hill played to a 3-3 tie. Garrett Bufford pitched a solid four innings earning one strike out. Luke Darling, Bo Bodine and Will Griffith all came in as relief pitchers to finish out the game. Defensively, the Golden Eagles showed great effort, only giving up one error. Offensively, four Golden Eagles earned hits in the game ( Zach Tully, Brandon Johnson, Jake Hylinski and Kolby Crepeau). Several other players earned critical walks to help OMS have base runners in scoring position ( Bryan Van Scoyoc, Darling, Bodine and Griffith).

On March 27, the Golden Eagles beat the undefeated York Cougars, 7-1. Bo Bodine earned the win, pitching all five innings and throwing for four strike outs. Defensively, the Golden Eagles came up big again, holding York to only one run. Offensively, numerous players contributed to the win. They include: Bryan Van Scoyoc – 2 walks, Luke Darling – 1 walk, Zach Tully – 1 walk and 1 RBI, Brandon Johnson – single and 1 walk, Parker Johnson – single and 1 walk, Jake Hylinski – single and 1 RBI, Kolby Crepeau – single, Tanner Maness – single and 3 RBIs, Seth Querze – single and Kevin Riley – single.


• The OMS boys track team participated in a three-way meet March 27. Scoring for the Golden Eagles were: 1600 – 1st Peyton Barrow 5:52.30 2nd Jordan Parlier 5:53.62; 400 – 2nd Landon Albrick 1:00.48 4th Luke Barz 1:07.00; 800 – 1st Barrow 2:40.89; 200 – 3rd Charlie Hoffmann 27.43 4th Justin Liu 28.85; 4x400 – 2nd OMS 4:27.85; Long jump – 4th Albrick 13’11”; Discus – 1st Jacob Gunn 86’10” 2nd Peyton Webster 85’1” 4th Jonathan Gunn 70’7”; Shot put – 1st Webster – 30’9”

• The OMS girls team finished third vs. Castle Heights and Fort Mill on March 27. Scoring for the Lady Golden Eagles were: 1st – 4x100m relay team; 1600 – 2nd Lily Elston 6:45.56 and 3rd Dezi Mei 6:52; 100 – 3rd Emma Johnson 13.55; 400 – 4th Ashley Atkinson 1:18.78; 800 – 2nd Mei 3:06.08; 200 – 2nd Johnson 29.09 4th Tiona Walls 30.57; 4x400 – 2nd OMS 5:06.75; Long jump – tied for 2nd Cassie Williams 11’6” Megan Bailey 11’6; Discus - 2nd Danni Williams 56’4”.
