Catawba Indian to talk about tribe Wednesday

The River Hills Women’s Club will meet Wednesday, April 16, at River Hills Country Club.

Travis Blue of the Catawba Indian Nation will discuss the history of the Catawba tribe, their language, traditional dress, music and pottery and will share information about the relationship between the Catawba Indians and River Hills. His program will include a demonstration of a dance.

Social time begins at noon followed by lunch at 12:30 p.m.

Tour of homes around Lake Wylie planned

The 29th annual Clover-Lake Wylie Tour of Homes and Gardens will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26, sponsored by Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women.

Visitors will tour six custom-designed homes showcasing a mix of traditional and contemporary styles and flowering gardens.

On the day of the event, a buffet luncheon will be served at the River Hills Country Club from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with a strolling fashion show by Chico’s and the Mens’ Pro Shop. Cost is $16, payable in the dining room the day of the tour.

Tour tickets are $20 available at The Cleaners in Lake Wylie Plaza or by calling 803-831-0689. Tickets also will be sold at the River Hills Plantation security gate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the day of the tour.

Tour proceeds benefit the Fay Bergman college scholarship to be awarded one or more qualified Clover High School seniors in May.

Scouts holding craft show April 26

Boy Scout Troop 1280 and Girl Scout Troop 2822 will hold an Arts & Crafts Show April 26 at First United Methodist Church, 124 Bethel St.

Barbecue plates will be sold for $7 a plate.

All proceeds go to the troops.

Give blood April 30 with Rotary

Lake Wylie Rotary Club will host an Upper Palmetto American Red Cross blood drive from noon to 4:30 p.m. April 30 at Watson Insurance, 4569 Charlotte Hwy.

The Rotary Club meets at noon Tuesdays at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Road.
