Charlotte man charged in January shooting death

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have made an arrest in a January shooting death.

Montarious D’Angelo Dawson, 23, of Charlotte, was arrested late Monday night after turning himself in to detectives for questioning in a Jan. 20 fatal shooting on the northwest side of the city.

Police said Dawson was charged with murder in the death of Keith Graham, 46.

The shooting was reported about 6 p.m. that Monday evening in the 2400 block of Dundeen Street, off Beatties Ford Road. At the time, police said they believed the shooter and victim knew each other. They also said the shooting might have been related to a drug transaction.

Police indicated there were witnesses, and detectives said their investigation eventually led them to Dawson.

Jail records show Dawson has been arrested five times since May 2011, but nearly all of those charges were misdemeanors.
