LAKE WYLIE — There were 44 boats fishing for top spots during the Thursday Night Tournament Trail’s second event of the season April 10.
“The dogwoods are blooming, and the bass are moving up to spawn,” said Erwin Gaston who organizes the trail with Jeremy Cabe. “The problem right now is the smaller male bass are the first to move up. The floating worm and buzzbaits seem to be the baits of choice.”
Mike Stephens reeled in the winning weight of 17.29 pounds, followed by the team of Adam Fillmore and Matt Queen with 15.93 pounds.
The weekly Thursday Night Tournament Trail continues through September, and registration is at 5:15 p.m. at Buster Boyd Access Area. Blastoff is at 6:30 p.m. Entry fees cost $40 per boat. Trail sponsors are Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bond.
