Lions add 6 to membership
LAKE WYLIE The River Hills Lions inducted six new members at its April 19 breakfast meeting, adding to its membership as the largest Lions Club in South Carolina.
The club provides financial and volunteer support to 32 charities.
New members are Fred Farkas, Gail Danberg, Bessie Meeks, David McCorkle, Peter Tucker and Danielle McCurdy.
Rotary holds blood drive, meeting
LAKE WYLIE Lake Wylie Rotary Club will host an Upper Palmetto American Red Cross blood drive from noon to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Watson Insurance, 4569 Charlotte Hwy.

Lake Wylie Rotarian Bernd “Bernie” Drahola, owner of DRAHOLA Technologies Inc., will talk about “International Etiquette, understanding the cultural differences when traveling to foreign countries, and common mistakes to avoid to accomplish your business goals faster and easier” during the May 6 meeting.
A native of Germany with family roots in Czech Republic, Drahola lived and worked in Switzerland and Italy before moving with his family to Lake Wylie in 2011.
Drahola started his career studying math and land surveying, graduating Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences in 1996. Two years later, he founded his first company offering various engineering services to municipalities followed by another foundation of a spatial software development company in 2001. He also served as a lecturer at the Rottenburg University of applied sciences in Germany for more than eight years.
He has a master’s degree of business administration with a minor in leisure and tourism from Rhine Ahr Campus University of Applied Sciences in Koblenz, Germany.
In 2011, he set up his career on an international level and launched DRAHOLA Technologies Inc. serving clients in the oil and forestry industries, as well as municipalities, chambers of commerce amd tourism regions. His online mapping program, GeoCockpit 360, highlights businesses and local attractions, and allows complete customization.

Woman’s club end-of-year picnic May 8
CLOVER The Clover Woman’s Club will end this year with a picnic at 6:30 p.m. May 8 at the home of Barbara and Tommy Crates’ Barn, 430 Glenn Road.

GOP women holding social event May 15
LAKE WYLIE The Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women will host a Mix & Mingle social event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 15 at Cherry restaurant and bar, 4034 Charlotte Hwy.
The public, both men and women, is invited to this informal political gathering. Special guest is state Rep. Ralph Norman.
Guests will be seated on the restaurant's covered deck. Snacks will be provided with a cash bar available.

Historical society to honor veterans
FORT MILL York County Genealogical & Historical Society meets at 2 p.m. May 18 at Flint Hill Baptist Church, 269 Flint Hill Road.
Veterans from all wars from the Revolution through the mid-20th century will be honored. Graves of more than 200 veterans are located in the church cemetery.
The annual business meeting follows the program.
Ventriloquist guest of women’s club
LAKE WYLIE The River Hills Women’s Club will meet May 21 at River Hills Country Club.
Steve Brogan, a comic ventriloquist, will entertain the group. He has performed on PBS, “Good Morning America,” The Fox Network and “Carolina Camera.”
Social time begins at noon with lunch served at 12:30 p.m.
