LAKE WYLIE — Fish were still biting despite low water levels during Thursday Night Tournament Trail competition May 1.
“The lake level has been pulled way down, and it seemed to have pull the fish away from the banks and they are moving out on points and drop,” said Erwin Gaston, who co-organizes the weekly event with Jeremy Cabe. “The fish are still biting pretty good when you find them.”
Shawn Wallace and Hunter Poole reeled in five fish that weighed 18 pounds for the win.
The team of James Clemmons and Rick Carson came in second with 16.48 pounds. they and had the big fish of the night, which weighed 6.31 pounds.
There were 47 boats in the competition.
The weekly trail continues through September. Registration is at 5:15 p.m. at Buster Boyd Access Area. Blastoff is at 6:30 p.m. Entry fees cost $40 per boat. Trail sponsors are Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bond.
