Buses crash, sending 9 to hospitals

Nine people were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries after two school buses collided in Huntersville, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokeswoman.

The collision happened around 5 p.m. and involved two buses from Whitewater Middle School. Bus No. 1958 had 43 students aboard; bus No. 1853 had 62 students aboard.

The school’s principal was sending a message to parents of the affected students, said CMS Spokeswoman Yaviri Escalera.
