LAKE WYLIE — Weekly fishing tournament organizers blame it on the rain for keeping anglers out of the water for the May 15 Thursday Night Trail.
“The weather affected the turnout, and I cannot blame those guys who didn’t come out to fish,” said Erwin Gaston, trail co-organizer with Jeremy Cabe. “It was not a perfect night to fish. Not only did it rain, but at times it rained very hard.”
But 21 teams came out looking for a win.
Mike Stevens and Brian New brought in five fish that weighed 17.23 pounds.
The weekly trail continues through the end of August with the fish off Sept. 5-6. Registration is at 5:15 p.m. at Buster Boyd Access Area. Blastoff is at 6:30 p.m. Entry fees cost $40 per boat. Trail sponsors are Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bond.
