LAKE WYLIE — Rain leads to good bites May 29 on Lake Wylie.
“Who said fish don’t bite in the rain?” said Erwin Gaston, co-organizer of the Thursday Night Tournament Trail on Lake Wylie. “It is the fisherman that have a problem with it.”
The team of Rick Carson and James Clemmons didn’t have a problem with the rain or the fishing, Gaston said. They brought in five bass that weighed in at 17.03 pounds for the win.
Team Clay Stevens and Jason Powell took second place with 13.16 pounds in the field of 38 boats.
“We fish every Thursday night through August, rain or shine,” Gaston said.
The weekly trail continues through the end of August with the fish off Sept. 5-6. Registration is at 5:15 p.m. at Buster Boyd Access Area.
Blastoff is at 6:30 p.m. Entry fees cost $40 per boat. Trail sponsors are Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bond.
