Big day for preschoolers

June 6, 2014

Preschoolers donned caps and gowns Friday to celebrate their graduation from the Thompson Child Development Center, with kindergarten in sight.

The center on Clanton Road was created in 1996 and is designed to help at-risk children, but it draws in children from birth to age 5 from across socio-economic backgrounds. The center cares for a maximum of 150 kids at any one time, and sent off 37 in this year’s graduating class.

Thompson teacher Takiyah Edwards-Prince also celebrated a graduation: earning a bachelor’s degree in child development.
