LAKE WYLIE — Its last call for one Lake Wylie golf business, as the owners of two others plan their next move.
Golf Masters will close June 20. The business began in 2007 when Eric and Lynn Harper converted a home place into a driving range on about 30 acres on S.C. 49 south of Three Points. The business grew to house two more businesses, Victory Custom Golf and Accelerized Golf of Lake Wylie. Those businesses arent closing.
Those two businesses will move from the Golf Masters building but not far.
Were going to stay in the Lake Wylie area, said Tommy Jordan, owner of Accelerized Golf. Well be operating in our present location through July 20.
The businesses plan on staying together. Jordan hoped to have a lease on a new space signed on Friday, but as of Lake Wylie Pilot press time hadnt finalized the arrangement.
Were waiting on the folks that own the property to get the lease together, Jordan said Thursday afternoon.
Ohio-based Gross Builders will put high-end apartments on the Golf Masters site. The Revere at Lake Wylie received approval earlier this year for a zoning change for the project. Ken Starrett, operations manager with Gross Builders, expects the first apartments to be ready by mid-2015.
We are the new owners, he said Wednesday. Were hoping to break ground late this summer.
The development will include 444 luxury apartments. Full build-out will take 30 months, Starrett said.
Were enthralled with the area, he said. We think Lake Wylie is a great location. Were excited to be part of the community.
It is too early for details about pre-sales, but Starrett said anyone interested in updates should check grossbuilders.com. More information will come as building nears completion.
As the job progresses, well be posting signs, Starrett said.
Golf Masters remains open daily until closing, with last buckets sold at 7 p.m. Lynn Harper, in a message to the Lake Wylie Pilot, asks customers to use gift cards.
We thank all of our loyal customers and friends for seven great years, Harper said.
