— About 50 mailboxes were either opened, or run over and destroyed in Clover overnight, deputies say, prompting a search for the vandals whose alleged vandalism also crossed state lines.

The roads targeted include: Parham Road, Cross Road, Ridge Road, Brandon Road and Kendrick Road in Clover. Mailboxes were also hit on Patrick Road, which is technically in Gastonia, N.C. but borders the state line.

Street signs and stop signs were also damaged, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Trent Faris.

By Thursday morning, received 50 reports of damaged mailboxes.

Deputies ask anyone who might have been a victim of the vandalized mailboxes to report it to the Sheriff's Office by calling 803-628-3056.

Anyone with information on the suspects responsible for destroying the mailboxes is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 803-628-3059, or Crime Stoppers of York County at 1-877-409-4321.
