Letters to the Editor

  • Watch out for historical markers

The new highway design at the Allison Creek bridge prohibits the reading of the historical marker.

  • Christmas kindness warms the heart

The meaning of “pay it forward,” the ultimate gift from the heart.

  • Vote candidate, not party

Too often citizens vote for a party and not an individual. We are coming into an election year. Rhetoric and feces will be flying for the next 12 months. I urge all citizens to take the time to research all candidates and listen to what they have to say with an open mind. Give each a chance to get your precious vote. If you disagree with a candidate’s position, try and find out why they are taking the position put forth. They might change your mind.

  • Loyal to River Hills/Lake Wylie EMS

Loyalty. There is not much of that anymore.

  • LWAA cheerleaders thanks supporters

We would not have been able to attend Nationals without the help and support of our community. Thanks so much to our generous sponsors [supporting Lake Wylie Athletic Association’s cheerleaders].

  • It’s nice to have option

I want to thank Al DePalma for his article (published Oct. 25 in the Lake Wylie Pilot) about the emergency squads. I recently had an experience needing an emergency squad. On my lifeline, I requested River Hills/Lake Wylie EMS, but another squad came first.

  • Responsible dog owners step up and do not have dangerous dogs

If we ask folks to define a dangerous dog, we’re likely to get many answers. These range from describing a dog that has actually killed a person to a tiny dog that yaps at all passersby to a dog that just “looks scary” to Aunt Agnes.

  • Local partisan elections unnecessary

Lately there has been a lot of conversation about local government needing partisan elections. The mayors of Clover, Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Tega Cay and York could not disagree more with this concept. Local government is the closest to the people, and we hear constantly from our neighbors, friends and business representatives in the community. Local government is not the place to require partisan elections or partisan politics.

  • Clover center thanks ministers

The members of the Board of Directors for Clover Area Assistance Center express their thanks and gratitude to the ministers from local area churches who attended the Ministers Breakfast sponsored by CAAC on Oct. 18.

  • Civilized, really?

I cannot believe what I have heard from the Republican party. They are angry because President Obama is bringing our troops home. They wanted them to stay in harm’s way longer. Why?
