Hear message in Belmont
BELMONT -- Best-selling Christian author Beth Moore will deliver a message to about 80,000 women nationwide Friday and Saturday from Louisville, Ky.
Through a partnership with LifeWay Women's Events, Church Communication Network and South Point Baptist Church in Belmont, a simulcast will broadcast live via satellite from Southeast Christian Church in Louisville. Some 600 churches across the country, including South Point, are participating as host churches.
South Point is located at 124 Horsley Ave. Tickets are $30, which includes light refreshments Friday evening and a light lunch Saturday. To purchase tickets, call (704) 825-9516.
Musician to share testimony Aug. 5
STEELE CREEK -- The renowned musician David Meece will be giving his personal testimony with music at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at Christ the King Church, 13501 S. Tryon St. A love offering will be accepted.
Dinner will be served from 6 to 6:45 p.m. for a fee.
With record sales in the millions, Meece is the composer of many modern-day Christian classics and had several radio hits in the '90s. He composed the Christmas classic "One Small Child" at age 14, having begun touring as a concert pianist at age 10.
"Obeying God is where it's at. I am convinced that there has been a tremendous urgency placed upon my life by the Holy Spirit to get the Gospel out to as many people as possible," he said.
Meece will share his story growing up as a child of an alcoholic, abusive father and the process he went through to forgive his dad and the healing love of God.
Celebrate Recovery meets at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Christ the King Church for fellowship and applying Biblical principles.
A Celebrate Recovery Step Study for women meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at the church.

Bible study orientation set
LAKE WYLIE -- Clover Bible Study is holding an orientation coffee for prospective members at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 6 at River Hills Community Church on Highway 49 in Lake Wylie.
CBS is an interdenominational Bible study group open to all women of all faiths and all knowledge levels. This year's study will be the "Gospel of Mark" and "Paul's Letter to the Ephesians."
Registration continues for the fall study, which will begin meeting on Wednesdays, Aug. 27, at River Hills Community Church.

Community invited to Saturday concerts
STEELE CREEK -- Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Steele Creek invites the community to it's next Thrive Alive Saturday concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 9 at Winget Park.
"We have changed our Saturday service from something where we ask people from the community to come to church to something where we take the church to the community," said Good Shepherd Pastor Talbot Davis via e-mail. "Our Saturday Thrive Band has played free gigs in recent weeks at RiverGate and Plaza Fiesta," he said. "The response has been overwhelming."
The band plays a mix of modern Christian music along with U2, Los Lonely Boys, Switchfoot and more.
Other dates include Aug. 23, on the church lawn at 13110 Moss Road and Sept. 13, again at RiverGate.
