A house boat in Fort Mill was destroyed this weekend by a "suspicious fire," officials say.
The public is invited to review and provide comments on the Draft 2012 South Carolina Aquatic Plant Management Plan through the S.C. Department of Natural Resources by Sunday, Feb. 12. No telephone comments will be considered.

Community groups, nonprofits and grassroots organizations wanting to keep local boaters safe and waterways clean are eligible for grants for up to $4,000 each from the BoatUS Foundation’s Grassroots Grants Program. A total of up to $50,000 is available this grant cycle. Application deadline is Jan. 4.
Rep. Chellie Pingree of Maine has introduced the “Keep America’s Waterfront Working Act of 2011” (H.R. 3109) in Congress. BoatUS is urging boaters to ask their Congressional representatives to sign-on as co-sponsors of the bill.
