Letters to the Editor

  • Clover School Board needs to answer Whys

In regard to the planned school site purchase at Allison Creek, and as a taxpayer, a member of the Clover Town Council, and candidate for the York County Council, I have to ask why were the citizens of the Lake Wylie area not invited to be part of the process in the selection of a school site?

  • Mosque would be slap in face

I am writing this letter in response to the Muslims wanting to build a mosque on the Ground Zero or even near it. Who do they think they are? It was their countrymen who killed over 2,000 people in the two buildings.

  • Face financial facts

I wish Mr. Huffstetler would do some research before just repeating Democratic Talking Points. Yes G.W Bush was not the best financially, but what about the facts?

  • Credit Spratt

Recently, Congress passed and President Obama signed into law a state aid bill that will direct over $280 million to South Carolina. These funds will help save the jobs of over 2,400 teachers and other public school employees, prevent the layoff of firefighters and police officers around the state, and ensure that low-income families continue to receive medical coverage.

  • Fortunate to have Spratt

The tea party types and Mulvaney supporters are wildly off base assigning any blame for the federal deficit to Congressman Spratt.

  • Clover woman makes N.C. A&T State dean’s list

Brittany Stowe of Clover and a psychology major was among the 2,500 students that made the spring 2010 dean’s list at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.

  • We need Spratt

Who is the Republican running against Congressman Spratt this fall? I can't determine if the candidate is the new state senator from Lancaster County or someone from the national GOP.

  • Congress, question of ethics

With the approval rating of Congress at a mere 16 percent, it is hard to believe the American public could be any more displeased with the legislative body.

  • Time for South Carolina real estate regulation change

South Carolina law requires real estate and insurance agents complete a state-approved continuing education course consisting of many days “off the job” in classroom instruction. There are a host of private companies providing state-approved training for both licensure designations. But what are these companies really selling and what are the agents really buying?

  • To the Voters of House 47

First and foremost I want to thank you for your tremendous support in the Republican Primary.
