  • Join virtual march for responsible reproductive health policies in S.C.

  • From your Tega Cay mayor

For several months now, many of you have been asking how our City had become involved in talks concerning a potential LPGA event coming to the Tega Cay Golf Course. Hopefully, the following will explain how the City became involved and where discussions are currently.

  • Cantrell is about helping others

To those writers who have hammered Kathy Cantrell for her support of health care reform, I have a suggestion: Why not move away from the personal attacks and, instead, engage her in civil discourse?

  • I say ‘no’ to Lake Wylie incorporation

A recent article in your paper [published Jan. 19 in the Lake Wylie Pilot] concerned the Lake Wylie Civic Association, a group representing several housing developments and their HOA’s scattered around the Lake Wylie area. I do not live in one of those developments, but I am a long-time resident of Lake Wylie.

  • Toll road troubling

I am very troubled by the idea that trucks and traffic will be going up U.S. 321 through the historic Brookwood and York-Chester neighborhoods. My family and I want you to know that we are not happy that the road is just going to promote sprawling residential development that will strain our neighborhoods and suck out business from downtown. We are not happy all this money would be spent, and we would still have traffic congestion on I-85, U.S. 74 and U.S. 321. Please, do not give in to any toll road operations. We, the people, are already taxed enough and do not need anymore expenses for a lifetime. AUTUMN JENKINS Clover

  • Realtors making a difference

I just wanted to applaud you for your coverage of the activities of our local Realtors in Columbia last week [published Jan. 26 in the Lake Wylie Pilot]. Great Article, I think we need more coverage on the diligent work all of our local Realtors do to help make South Carolina and York County more attractive to prospective buyers. Just an added comment, Jay Rinehart is not just a Broker in Charge, but the President of the South Carolina Association of Realtors, as well as the Owner of Rinehart Realty with offices in Fort Mill/Tega Cay and Lake Wylie. We are very fortunate to have someone of such great influence in one of our state’s largest trade associations to help bring matters of importance in our area to the attention of the State Assembly. He also is very active in the National Association of Realtors, and serves on committees as well. SUE BRYANT Branch Manager, Rinehart Realty

  • Health bill squashes freedom

I’m sorry I cannot be as happy as Kathy Cantrell was on Christmas Eve watching as the U.S. Senate passed the most sweeping health care bill.

  • Showered with support

Just wanted to thank you and let you know that the article [published Jan. 5] in the Lake Wylie Pilot generated so many phone calls and people stopping in to see what we needed for the shower. It was an amazing success!

  • Bribery is unacceptable, even in Congress

In what universe is it acceptable for a person in a position of leadership to bribe one of his colleagues with someone else's money? Apparently, it is the Congressional universe.

  • Taxes for safety, security

Between whining about the tax load and exhortations to enact tax-cutting laws in US House and Senate it appears that the whiners and complainers have forgotten that their tax payments enable local, county, state and federal authorities to provide indispensible services.
