Letters to the Editor

  • Grateful for Lake Wylie Library

I love to read, and, yes, I have grown accustomed to buying my books on my Kindle. I do use the library via Internet and put myself on the list of books to read. The library has an automated email/phone system that lets you know when your book is available. And the library is free!

  • Romney remarks spoke to American outrage

Regarding the Friday editorial, “Romney response ill timed”: What used to be our local paper, locally owned and expressing independent opinions, is now owned by McClatchy Co. out of California, which expanded its operations to the east coast with the purchase of The Herald. They are now the third-largest newspaper company in the country.

  • Bright idea for Lake Wylie

It’s hard to believe that it’s only been about two years since we were all concerned about having a big blue Walmart in Lake Wylie. Now, we have a nice green and yellow Title Loan business. Would it be OK if I opened up a pawn shop and a strip club next to the Title Loan business? Seems they would go well together. I’m thinking a bright pink pawnshop and a neon purple strip club.

  • Graham support

Sen. Lindsey Graham could help confirm consensus nominees by joining with GOP senators who voted for South Carolina-based trial and appellate court judges.

  • Lake Wylie topics of issue

I may not make many friends with my letter, but we have a few topics I feel strongly about.

  • Drivers, stay alert driving during holiday

Independence Day is upon us, and the Highway Patrol will be out in force again over this holiday.

  • York County needs to end dueling EMS services

A couple of days ago, my wife and I were driving on Highway 49 in Lake Wylie approaching the 274 interchange during the busy evening commute. A Lake Wylie EMS ambulance pulled across the road, with lights and sirens, and went on the wrong side of the road to circumvent traffic and make a left turn. A fire truck coming from the opposite direction also turned south. Another ambulance from Piedmont, coming from a completely different direction crossed the intersection and fell in line behind the Lake Wylie EMS ambulance. I am trying to understand why the county is allowing dueling ambulance services,

  • Charlotte plane plan needs rerouting

I have been reading the various articles with regard to airport noise over the past month, just finished reading the latest one in the Lake Wylie Pilot dated June 12 and have a few comments I would like to make.

  • Clover center thanks ministers

The members of the Board of Directors for Clover Area Assistance Center express their thanks and gratitude to the ministers from local area churches who attended the Ministers Breakfast sponsored by CAAC on Oct. 18.

  • Civilized, really?

I cannot believe what I have heard from the Republican party. They are angry because President Obama is bringing our troops home. They wanted them to stay in harm’s way longer. Why?
