Regarding the Friday editorial, “Romney response ill timed”: What used to be our local paper, locally owned and expressing independent opinions, is now owned by McClatchy Co. out of California, which expanded its operations to the east coast with the purchase of The Herald. They are now the third-largest newspaper company in the country.
It’s hard to believe that it’s only been about two years since we were all concerned about having a big blue Walmart in Lake Wylie. Now, we have a nice green and yellow Title Loan business. Would it be OK if I opened up a pawn shop and a strip club next to the Title Loan business? Seems they would go well together. I’m thinking a bright pink pawnshop and a neon purple strip club.
Sen. Lindsey Graham could help confirm consensus nominees by joining with GOP senators who voted for South Carolina-based trial and appellate court judges.

Methylenedioxypyrovalerone, commonly referred to as “bath salts,” is a dangerous synthetic drug that causes drug-induced psychosis. It has been linked to the May 26 assault in Miami where Rudy Eugene, who had stripped naked after overheating on the drug, ate the face off of Ronald Poppo, a homeless man known to be insane. Eugene continued his assault even after being shot by a law enforcement officer that was flagged down by a witness. He was subsequently shot and killed.
On behalf of Clover Area Assistance Center, I would like to thank the River Hills Lions Club for their constant support of our organization. I don’t know how many people in the community are aware of what integral partners the Lions have been to CAAC over the years, or that Clover Area Assistance Center would not exist if it were not for the Lions.
